Plenty of “private” apps just hide files behind a PIN while leaving them readable on disk. Vaultly encrypts every file individually — the lock is the encryption itself.

A seed phrase compartment with its own password

Your crypto wallets' recovery words (seed phrases) get a separate compartment inside the vault: its own password, its own encryption key, and it stays locked even while the rest of the vault is open. 12 to 24 words, a label, an optional passphrase and a note — with the BIP39 checksum checked as you type.

On M-series Macs the iPad version runs as a Mac app, in its own window. PIN and pattern work as usual; biometric unlocking depends on what that Mac provides. There is no separate native Mac build, and Intel Macs are not supported.

Every device keeps its own vault, because syncing would need a server that holds your files, and Vaultly has none. Moving to a new iPhone or opening the same files on your iPad means creating an encrypted backup on one device and restoring it on the other — with your PIN or your recovery phrase. Your purchase follows your Apple Account; your files follow your backup.

No, and neither can anyone else. Your files are encrypted with a key derived from your PIN, and that key exists only on your device. Your recovery phrase is the only way back in — keep it somewhere safe outside the app.

Whatever lives only in the vault is gone with the device unless you have a backup. Set backups up in Settings, and keep the backup and your recovery phrase somewhere other than the phone.
